About Us
At Ellis Constructions, we’re driven by integrity, precision, and innovation. With dual registration under the DBPA as both Designer and Builder, we offer streamlined delivery with full accountability.
Ellis Constructions is small enough to offer the bespoke, detail-focused service of an owner-operated business, yet large enough to deliver complex projects with the structure, systems, and strength of a professional enterprise.
We are one of the few mid-sized firms registered as both Designer and Builder under the Design and Building Practitioners Act (DBPA)—enabling us to provide fully integrated project delivery with deep accountability across all phases. Our Home Building Compensation Fund (HBCF) eligibility ranges between $15 - $20 million, and we benefit from the lowest builder loading under current insurance guidelines.
We take a collaborative, long-term approach to business; building trusted relationships with architects, designers, strata managers, developers, suppliers, and our staff to deliver work that is well-considered, enduring, and rigorously executed.

OUR PRINCIPAL
Shane Ellis is the principal and director of Ellis Constructions, and has worked in the construction industry since 1996.
Shane has a deep understanding and passion for design, and has instilled attention to detail into the company culture.
Shane is responsible for strategic management of the business, which has successfully completed over $90 million worth of building works over 20 years of operations, working with some of Sydney’s leading architects and designers.
Shane holds building qualifications including an unrestricted Builders License and Dual design and Build Registration under the Design Building Practitioner Act 2020. Shane also has a bachelors Degree in Architecture (Sydney), a Masters of Management (MGSM) and an advanced diploma in Quantity Surveying (QS). Shane has worked as a Senior QS at BMT & Associates, managing portfolios for banks, government departments, and institutional investors.
Above credentials bring a professional lens to the business, but Shane’s core experience comes from the site, where working hands-on with building materials has embodied a deep understanding for material properties – which translates to economic designs based on a phenomenological relationship between design and material placement.
Shane’s approach to Architecture is driven by strong but lyrical fundamental materials and a focus on proportionality of form with simplicity of detailing – all of which allows a loose-fit between the Architecture and its inhabitants, facilitating present and future adaptability. Outside of work, he finds peace and balance through meditation, a practice he enjoys regularly.

Annette Kwan

Annette Kwan has been with Ellis Constructions since 2014, bringing over a decade of expertise in construction, strata, property law, and commercial litigation. She holds a Bachelor of Law and a Bachelor of Commerce from the University of NSW, as well as a Diploma of Law and Masters of Law from the University of Technology Sydney.
As the In-House Legal Counsel and Office Manager, Annette ensures precise handling of all legal aspects within the firm. Her deep knowledge and attention to detail navigate complex legal challenges, providing clients with confidence. When not at work Annette can often be found in a quiet corner with a good book.

Mafi joined Ellis Constructions in 2024, bringing over 20 years of hands-on experience across commercial and residential building. With Certificate III and IV qualifications in Construction, he’s skilled in everything from framing to finishes.
Known for his calm leadership on site. A natural mentor and communicator, Mafi’s practical mindset and team-first attitude lift the whole crew. Originally from the Cook Islands, he’s a proud dad, a keen footy fan… He may look like you don’t want to mess with him but really, he is just a big, soft, teddy bear once you know his true character, you’re going to love working with this guy!

Darren joined Ellis Constructions in 2023 after running his own successful building company for over a decade. With a Certificate IV in Building, an unrestricted licence, and more than 30 years in the industry, he brings seasoned leadership and sharp site sense to every project.
On weekends, he’s behind the wheel – getting his elite-athlete kids to rep sport.

Xavier Ellis has been a cornerstone of Ellis Constructions since 2004, leveraging over 20 years of construction experience and qualifications in Work Safely at Heights, Rope Access Technician, Advanced Scaffolding, Boilermaking, and Event Management.
Xavier’s role spans site management, resource coordination, and scaffolding oversight across various projects. His hands-on knowledge and commitment to safety and efficiency contribute significantly to project success. Outside of work, Xavier is known to make friends with any dog in his vicinity.

Elaine brings over 20 years of experience across real estate, construction, and development – a background that makes her adaptable, efficient, and unflappable. With strong interpersonal skills and a sharp focus on outcomes, she keeps things moving behind the scenes.
Outside of work, she’s usually in the garden or out bushwalking around Sydney.

Pippa joined Ellis Constructions in 2024, bringing a sharp eye for interiors and a natural sense of style. With a Graduate Diploma from Sydney Design School and over 18 years’ experience leading teams in creative marketing roles, she blends design intuition with project know-how.
Off the clock, she’s usually dancing.

Leandro Cicuto joined Ellis Constructions in 2021, bringing expertise in carpentry, leadership, and industrial operations. With qualifications including an Advanced Diploma of Marketing and Leadership and Management, Leandro supports site operations and ensures the quality and safety of construction activities.
Leandro’s proficiency in managing resources and fostering effective communication with stakeholders highlights his role as a pivotal team member at Ellis Constructions. Just a tip: don’t be late to meet with Leo. Just don’t.

Jeremiah brings over a decade of construction experience with expertise in shopfitting, site coordination, and high-risk operations. Certified in tower crane operation, dogging, and forklift handling, he ensures smooth communication between trades, strict safety compliance, and on-time project delivery. Known for his proactive approach and attention to detail, Jeremiah keeps sites organized and projects efficient — proving that good teamwork (and good food) can solve almost anything.
Outside of work, Jeremiah is either levelling up in his favourite games, binge-watching anime or hanging out with family. If it involves pixels, plot twists, or quality time, Jeremiah’s all in.

Ewaldo is a dependable team member with experience supporting trades and maintaining safe, efficient worksites. Skilled in material handling, site prep, and basic repairs, he brings adaptability and a strong work ethic to every project, ensuring smooth operations and quality results.
Outside of work, you’ll probably find Ewaldo trying to conquer the great outdoors — whether it’s hiking up a trail, camping under the stars, or soaking up the sun at the beach. When he’s not chasing adventure, he’s glued to the footy, hunting down good food, or vibing to his favourite tunes like it’s a full-time job.

Harry joined Ellis Constructions in 2025 and quickly proved himself as a reliable, driven member of the project delivery team. At 22, he brings maturity and energy to tasks ranging from coordinating trades onsite to improving project systems and tracking progress. Passionate about learning all aspects of the business, Harry thrives on being hands-on and solving problems, making him a valuable part of Ellis’s next generation of talent.
Away from work, Harry is either chasing a ball, catching up with mates, or turning everyday life into a friendly competition (because winning is a lifestyle). True to his Greek roots, he’s all about loyalty, family, and food — whether it’s dominating the barbecue or passionately cheering for his favourite team like it’s the World Cup.

As an Apprentice Carpenter, Dominic works closely with the site foreman to support daily operations. He takes pride in hands-on work and enjoys seeing each stage of construction come together. With a practical mindset and strong attention to detail, Dominic aims to deliver quality outcomes while continually learning and developing his craft.
Outside of work, Dom is either tearing up the trails on his dirt bike, whipping up something delicious in the kitchen, or plotting his next outdoor adventure. If it involves adrenaline, good food, or fresh air, Dom’s already there — probably with a grin and a story to tell.

Chester comes to the office most days and takes his role very seriously: sniffing things, supervising meetings from under the desk, and keeping morale high. His favourite toys live here, his mum works here, and there’s a window where he can keep watch over everything.
Life is pretty perfect - except for that one dog. GRRR.

Andrew Spora joined Ellis Constructions in 2020, bringing extensive experience from leading roles in the construction industry. With a Certificate III in Carpentry and Joinery, and Certificate IV in Building and Construction, Andrew excels in managing complex strata remedial projects and ensuring high standards of safety and quality.
Andrew’s leadership ensures seamless project execution, characterized by organized operations and meticulous attention to architectural and structural details. Though born and bred in NSW, Andy proudly supports QLD during Origin.

Peter Dougheney has been integral to Ellis Constructions since 2008, with over 25 years of experience in the building industry. Holding a Builder’s License, along with certifications in General Construction (Carpentry), Building Studies, and more, Peter oversees high-level projects with meticulous attention to safety, quality, and efficiency.
Before Ellis Constructions, Peter garnered extensive experience with a respected builder, starting in 1999. His technical expertise and proactive problem-solving abilities ensure project excellence. Off the clock, Peter is a football fanatic and is raising Liverpool super-fans.
